HOORAY FOR BOOKS!
I love reading.
I used to be a fiction-only girl.
But I'm branching out.
When we got married my husband had the great idea for us to write down every single book we read. So I've now got a notebook filled and on to my 2nd notebook.
Before I give you my list of good-reads, let me just say that I have to wonder how some books ever made it on to the "Classics" list.
(Thank you for letting me vent. I've been trying to read the top 100 classics, and some of them are horrendous!)
Here are some suggestions for a good read:

Orson Scott Card's Women of Genesis Series
PG Wodehouse's Jeeves & Wooster Series
The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle (non-fiction)
The Peacegiver by James Farrell (amazing book!)
Lloyd C. Douglas' The Robe (actually, all 3 of his books are incredible)
Heart of The West by O. Henry (selection of his short stories)

Truly, I could go on and on. But I'll stop there for now.
What books do you recommend?

  1. some of those sound very good. i might have to look them up and download to my Nook.

i'm terrible about remembering the names and authors of good books. {sigh} maybe writing them down would help. i like zane grey books (kind of an odd choice but they're good). eugenia price was a great writer. phyllis whitney is another.

  2. I just finished reading "Founding Fathers - Uncommon Heroes" by Steven W. Allen. What a magnificent book! I wish it had been around when our children were growing up. If I were now raising children I would have us spend one night a week reading from this book, then each of us learning something more about that individual and discussing the next week; most likely would take about a month each for studying the six men in this book. They are examples of courage, humor, innovativeness and integrity. The book is available on Amazon. Oh, and I do LOVE culinary mysteries!
