Outward

First of all, thank you so much for your kind words. Each comment I receive means so much to me, and I find myself getting a bit teary each time I read them.

Now that I've shared a bit about my story, I want to spend more time looking for others who are sacrificing their time, money, talents, and whatever else they can, to help those who are suffering.

While perusing some of my favorite blogs, I came across Running for My Life. Ronnie was diagnosed with leukemia after "feeling winded while running a 10-K road race", her blog is, as she describes, about "falling down and getting up".

Take a moment if you can and read some of her posts, she is so motivational and inspiring.

Which organizations, blogs, people, or places inspire you to get back up when you're down?

Merry Summer Christmas

As you might know, my mother has no clue that I'm shaving my head to make a wig for her while she goes through chemo.

She's not going to find out until she picks me up from the airport next month and sees me with a scarf on my head and a wig in my hand.

It's like Christmas!

{Minus the snow, tree, Christmas lights, wrapped gifts, time of year...}

sweet

I've got to admit it.
I'm scared.

scared that my husband won't look at me the same,
that my kids will be embarrassed of me when i pick them up from school,
that my head is actually shaped like an acorn...

But the peace that fills me when i think of the smile i'll see on my mom's face is sweeter than the pain.

My dear friends,
what do you do to distract your mind from worries and fears?

anticipation

bald can be beautiful!

... not sure I'll have the guts to walk around without a scarf, and not sure if I'll shave to the skin ... but these women give me courage!

I'm thinking a little make-up and maybe some jewelry will help.

what do you think?

just 7 more days!

inspiring

this is my mom & dad
both amazing people
but this post is about my incredible mother
here's what i've learned from mom:
you can enjoy life no matter what situation you find yourself in,
work becomes play if you sing while working,
time with family trumps sleep,
every holiday is worthy of celebration,
you can hide your chocolate but that's no guarantee other chocoholics won't find it,
the joy is in the journey,
there's something to learn from everyone who comes into your life,
there really is power in positive thinking.
letting go of my silver strands is the least i can do ...
i love you mom

counting down

only 9 days
till my hair comes off
and the scarves go on
i am
excited,
anxious,
a little worried that I'll have a funny-shaped head,
majorly anticipating arriving at my parent's house and seeing their reaction
grateful...
did i already say excited?

may 1st the silver strands come off.
