family ... past and present

Every year we look forward to an extended family reunion ... here our children and grandchildren get to know their 1st and 2nd cousins and learn about their heritage.
It's coming up in a couple of weeks and we can't wait!

  1. That first photo is so beautiful!

That sounds like so much fun! How many people will be there? We just had a family reunion a couple of weeks ago - it was a blast. About 50 of us! I love how you are teaching about your heritage as a precursor...that's awesome :)

  2. I used to love family reunions as a kid. Lots of running around causing mayhem.

  3. It's so good for cousins to meet and get to know each other.

I love the reason for your blog's name - what a splendid thing to do for your mother:-)

  4. Well said Denalee! I feel the importance of learning of and cherishing our heritage, building upon it and passing it down to our children and grandchildren. Families are awesome! No matter if you haven't seen cousins/nieces and nephews for years, there is an immediate love and bonding when meeting again at a family reunion.
Let's hear it for traditions and reunions!

  5. I never thought of donating my "silver strands" for wigs. We do have a program here...just never thought of anyone wanting mine! Thanks for the inspiration.

The comment by Thich Nhat Hanh is so true! I have my mother's hands and "freckles". Some people call them "age spots" but I figure when I get enough of them, I'll have a nice tan! ;-)

  7. That is terrific. I really need to teach my kids that there were people here even before their grandparents.
