getting fit

It's sort of like laundry ... never done.
I mean, I can't think of very many times in my life when I've been totally thrilled with the condition of my body. But I'm on my way.
It doesn't bother me at all to tell everyone I'm 52 years old. And to warn all of you youngsters out there that your metabolism really will slow down! Mine has. So it's a real fight to stay fit. On the upside, since I have to fight harder than ever to fit into my clothes, I at least know that all that work is keeping my heart and lungs healthy.

So, since Monday, our family has been on a "kick-start-your-metabolism" diet. Don't worry - I'm all about health, so this isn't a scary fad diet (when I was a teenager, I once went on a watermelon & fresca diet. I know - my frontal lobe wasn't yet developed PLUS I didn't tell my Mom about it, so there was no one to talk sense into me) I'll let you know next week how it went. So far so good.

Meantime, I love Wii Fit. And Jillian Michaels. And our eliptical (decrepit as it is, it still makes me sweat).
Oh, and I love water.

What are you doing to stay fit?

  5. I'm trying to get back into healthy eating and daily fitness ... my nutritionist suggested starting each day with warm water and squeeze of lemon - Optional add a touch of grated ginger and 1/4 tsp of raw honey... good luck to you ...xo HHL

  6. Well good for you. Speaking of dumb diets, I just quit eating. I would have a Pepsi Free once a day. It is a wonder I am not dead. I could loose weight unlike today. I have been walking trying to get back up to my five miles a day, but the loosing weight deal? I don't think it is going to happen. I tell my kids the same thing. :) Good luck, I am going to look into that diet.

  7. Hi! Good to meet you! Thanks for your nice comments on my holiday photos. Two things I would like to say to you: No way can you be 52! I thought I was looking at somebody in their 30s when I saw your profile picture. And: What a wonderful and inspiring story about love and affection you have to tell. I am glad to read that your mom is going strong! All my best wishes for her and all your family!

P.S.: To keep fit, I am trying to eat healthily, but I am constantly trying to remind myself to be more active, too!

  8. My mother began each day with warm water and lemon -- hmmmm-- must be some wisdom in it if that principle has lasted this long. She passed away in 1978 at the age of 86.
