what would YOU do?

Hey everyone!
My daughter was telling me, today, about a friend of hers in college who won $4,000. Neat story how that happened, but here's the thing that amazed me:
Her friend first took $1000 and gave it to her best friend who was starting a band.
The second thing she did was call up my daughter and say, "Let's go to Wingers." Brooke's response was: "I don't want you to spend your money on us eating out." Her friend: "We're not eating." Her friend then walked in to Wingers, found a waiter, gave him $1000 and asked him to let everyone in the restaurant know that their meal was paid for. She then instructed him to use it all day to pay patrons' food bills.
I don't know what happened with the other $2000 - I think she may have put it toward the next semester's tuition, but isn't this just amazing?!?
I want to be that kind of person.

  1. that is absolutely amazing and exactly the kind of thing that i'd love to be able to do. the thing is, we can ALL do something along those same lines to make things better for others - and it doesn't have to be in the way of $1,000 at a time. Picking up the coffee for the person in line behind you, adding a buck or two to what you pay at the toll booth for the car behind you, handing an extra $10 to the wait staff and saying have a little extra on me, etc. Those are all little impacts that can say big things to others.

  2. That is amazing! What a lovely person :) My friend broke up his first pay check (I think it was $1500) into $50 notes, then we handed them out to people :)
