As A Man Thinketh

I've recently decided to memorize a poem or a verse of something inspiring once a week.
It's been a while since I last memorized, but I'm happy to report that I still remember "Thanatopsis" and "Invictus" (yay!)
So this week, it's this verse from "As A Man Thinketh":
Mind is the Master power that moulds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills -
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass;
Environment is but his looking-glass.

Do you have a favorite verse or saying?

  1. Great verse! I love reading inspirational things like this. One of my favorite quotes is by Taylor Swift: "No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind." :)

    P.S. Thank you for the comment you left on my Halloween post! My Halloween was great! I got to spend it with friends I hadn't seen in a while. I hope yours was great too!

  2. Viktor Frankl came to mind when you asked for a favorite saying. I had to look it up but here it is:
    "There are two races of men in this world, but only these two - the "race" of the decent man and the "race" of the indecent man."

    I like your idea of memorizing one inspiring quote per week.

  6. I know it's simple but one of my favorites is, "Bloom where you're planted". We are in different places, seasons and so on in life sometimes from day to day. So looking for a way to make whatever situation you are in work helps me stay sane. :-)

  7. That's a great one! Thanks for sharing.
    One I have loved lately is, "Have you prayed about it as much as you have talked about it?"

  9. As a quick grab, I have this one from G.K. Chesterton: "An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered."
