This is gorgeous, isn't it! Can you believe this vibrant flower blooms in the desert? Now here's what's really interesting to me: each petal has a spot, and each spot has just enough nectar to attract insects. The insects visiting are the means of this flower propagating. I just learned this. Here I thought the entire purpose of those bright red spots was to be beautiful and please me!
PS ... Who knew that purple and red could "go" so well?!

Such a beauty!!! in the desert to see such a flower must have just been magical... xo HHL
ReplyDeleteMy parents used to have a huge perennial garden...I remember looking across and seeing a bunch of purple flowers in front of red ones, and being surprised at how beautiful they looked together. I never would have thought to put red and purple side by side.
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't it wonderful that God can make a flower bloom even in the desert? Gives us all hope that we too can 'bloom' no matter what where we are.
Have a great day!
Just another fascinating example of the intracacies of God's creations.
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me how perfect nature is.
